StandUp for Kids – Tucson
My name is Jon Smith, I’m a Tucson native that grew up in the Northwest side and graduated from Ironwood Ridge High School in 2013. After high school I joined the Army and spent the last 8 years living in Texas, Germany, and Tennessee. I really enjoyed getting to expose myself to wide array of cultures both at home and overseas. I was lucky to have had the opportunity to lead others in the Army in a wide array of environments and, at the conclusion of my service, I had the opportunity to help Afghan refugees process into the United States when they arrived from the Kabul Airlift. My experience with the refugee community gave me a strong desire to want to pursue more opportunities where I could be able to give back to others as I saw so many non-profits doing amazing work.
I left active duty in 2022 and was able to completely shift gears on my career path to one in IT consulting. I currently work as a Business Delivery Analyst for Accenture while I actively pursue my Bachelor’s in Computer Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University.
I have been married to my amazing wife Julia (also a Tucson native) since 2015 and we are excited to be back home in Tucson. I’m looking forward to serving this organization as the Director of Outreach and hope I can help everyone make a difference in our community.
