BASICS

  • Direct Supervision: National Executive Director
  • Supervises: Contract Resources/Intern/Volunteers, as appropriate
  • Status: Full Time, 40 hours per week, exempt from overtime
  • Location: Decatur, GA National Office/Virtual
  • Travel: Limited

SUMMARY

  • Our national nonprofit charitable organization is seeking to add a member to our Decatur, GA office to manage national fundraising efforts to help StandUp for Kids end the cycle of youth homelessness. The incumbent will do so by creating and adhering to a protocol for effective fundraising as well as time-limited action plans.
  • The incumbent’s core priority will be to bolster the fiscal health of the national organization but shall also provide our 18 local programs with tools and a la carte consultation to improve their own fundraising skills and efforts.
  • The incumbent will work in a close-knit team comprised of the National Executive Director, the Manager of Finance and Marketing, and Directors of Finance and IT. The board’s fundraising committee will also provide input and moderate support.
  • The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a wide array of experience in nonprofit development, communications, and/or donor relations. The person must be passionate about our mission and population.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fundraising (50% effort in an average month): Prepare and execute an annual national development plan to include a combination of one-time, recurring, corporate, board, and foundation pledges, among other sources. Develop protocols to target institutional and high net-worth individuals and processes to move donors through acknowledgement, cultivation, and continued stewardship. Develop national and chapter campaigns (e.g. Year End, Giving Tuesday, etc.). Support local programs by: (a) working with a cross-organizational team to curate and grow a virtual fundraising toolkit for their use, containing a library of fundraising resources and trainings that can grow over time; (b) developing a grant-writing library and roster of grant- writing volunteers and contractors as a self-service option; and (c) developing protocols for programs interested in similar grant opportunities. Coordinate periodic fundraising special events (e.g., a 30th anniversary fundraiser, etc.).
  • Marketing and Community Building (30% effort): Develop and manage a print and digital communications plan targeting donors, including working with staff and volunteers to create donor-centric social media campaigns to meet specific awareness and fundraising goals; and sourcing and editing impactful stories relevant to donors. Develop relationships with media contacts to promote brand awareness. Provide continuity throughout the enterprise as related to branding and messaging. Keep up to date with organization’s internal processes, goals, vision, and key updates in order to share organization more fully with key constituents. Develop strategic relationships outside the organization (e.g., seek to understand and develop strategic relationships with key players in development, corporate, advocacy, government, and philanthropy arenas). Represent national organization at professional networking and donor events. Maintain a working knowledge of public policy and government issues that may impact potential development opportunities.   • Processes and Systems (20% effort): Manage website content policy. Maintain donor database and tracking systems and utilize for analysis. Prepare fundraising reports quarterly. Review development program and design strategies for setting revenue goals, establishing meaningful metrics, and evaluating performance. Report regular progress against strategic goals, including donor engagement and stewardship touchpoints, revenue and quota targets, and pipeline management details. Build and manage a Development department utilizing volunteer and intern talent. Assist with the management of online store and supply chain process.

REQUIREMENTS: At least five years of experience in nonprofit development and/or donor relations. Demonstrated leadership experience and increased work responsibility over time, including a measurable track record in successful fundraising. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, oral and written communication skills. Works equally well with a large group of “clients” and independently, and with small teams and limited resources. Understanding of and experience in donor management programs. Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required. Demonstrated adherence to ethical and operational best practices. Preference for candidates in Atlanta area or willingness to relocate near the Decatur office; some remote work hours okay. Previous experience with StandUp for Kids or other youth-serving organizations as a volunteer a plus.
