Every day, young people in San Diego face the impossible trying to survive without the safety and support of a stable home. They’re couch surfing. Sleeping in parks. Skipping meals. And more often than not, doing it all alone.
At StandUp for Kids – San Diego, we meet them where they are with open arms, no judgment, and real solutions. From street outreach to housing support, from school mentoring to life skills workshops, we help youth ages 12–24 build brighter futures, one caring connection at a time.

We believe every young person deserves safety, support, and a real shot at a promising future. Here’s how we stand up for youth in San Diego:
Street Outreach
We walk the streets to find and support youth who’ve been left behind offering hot meals, hygiene packs, referrals, and a friendly face they can count on.
Mentoring & Life Skills
Trained mentors guide youth through school, employment prep, and life transitions helping them build confidence and self-sufficiency.
Housing Support
We help unhoused youth find safe, stable places to live. From emergency shelter referrals to long-term housing plans, we guide them every step of the way.
Our Impact
Your support fuels life-changing work in San Diego and across the country. In 2024 alone:
- 69,464 meals provided to youth
- 8,200 nights of emergency shelter secured
- 41,036 points of outreach service
- 31,471 Volunteer hours provided
4.2 million youth experiencing homelessness in the U.S. each year
These numbers are more than statistics they’re stories of hope. And every single one started with someone like you who chose to stand up.
Why San Diego?
Here in our own backyard, youth homelessness is a growing crisis. From downtown to the border region, young people are slipping through the cracks often unseen, unsupported, and unheard.
But not anymore. Not if we can help it.
