There was a time in my life when I felt completely alone. I didn’t believe I had anyone to talk to, anyone who truly understood what I was going through, or anyone who could help motivate me to keep moving forward. I carried my struggles quietly, unsure if things would ever get better.
That changed when I connected with StandUp for Kids.
From the very beginning, they made me feel seen. I was nervous, unsure, and guarded, but they never gave up on me. Sarah, my case manager, became one of the most important supports in my life. She stayed communicative, patient, and understanding. She listened when I felt misunderstood and reminded me that my feelings mattered. Because of her, I learned that I wasn’t invisible.
The hardest part of my journey was accepting help. I thought asking for support meant weakness. But StandUp for Kids showed me that real strength comes from allowing others to stand with you. The turning point for me was realizing that my past did not have to define my future. I could choose a new path.
As time passed, I began seriously thinking about my future. After a lot of reflection, I made the decision to enlist in the Navy and begin a career that I know will benefit me and give me purpose. Throughout this decision, StandUp for Kids supported me completely. They believed in me, encouraged me, and stood beside me while I made one of the most important choices of my life.
