StandUp for Kids – Orange County
StandUp for Kids is a non-profit who relies on a backbone of donors to make our mission to end the cycle of youth homelessness a reality on the streets each day. Without the funding provided we simply wouldn’t exist and thus we want to sincerely thank all of you who have supported us so generously. This month we would like to spotlight Jason Makevich as the Donor of the Month for January 2020.
Jason has been a constant supporter of StandUp for Kids, continually going above and beyond for the organization. He takes part in our annual giving fund, Turkey Dinner Drive, and Xmas Wishlist promotion that we do each year and is always looking to do more.
As the owner of a technology company he knows the value that technology can add, both to an organization and to a youth simply trying to get their homework completed for school tomorrow. He has helped directly on both fronts with StandUp for Kids as donor, volunteer and fundraiser. A couple of years back Jason initiated a technology fundraiser through a platform called GivingGrid. The goal was to support as many youth as possible from our Anaheim Center to provide Chromebooks, a wireless hot-spot and a service plan. This would allow youth to check out these computers to take home and get homework done, homework that required online access that many of our youth don’t have at home. His campaign raised over $11,000 and is still in use by our youth in Anaheim each day.
More recently Jason has been the driving force behind upgrading our technology as an overall national organization. Jason has generously tapped into his business contacts and network to find support in building a technologic foundation for us to grow. He is working hand in hand with that StandUp for Kids leadership and his technology partners so that our staff and volunteers can be as efficient with their time and can be allowed to spend more and more time with those that we strive to support: our youth. We are impressed, over-joyed, and forever grateful for everything Jason has done to support us and everything he continues to do.
