StandUp for Kids - Orange County was launched in 2003 with a single focus: To end the cycle of youth homelessness in our community. We work to provide basic needs, housing, mentoring support, care, and love to at-risk and homeless youth ages 12-24. In 2021, we adjusted programming to address COVID restrictions and changes. View our Programs page to learn how we are continuing to grow in the scope and quality of care we provide to our youth. Because of your support here is what we accomplished in 2021.
How Big is the Youth Homelessness Problem in Orange County?
There are an estimated 31,000 homeless and housing insecure youth between 12-24 in Orange County. These youth are at risk of falling victim to gang violence, substance abuse, human trafficking, disease and hunger. Our goal is to reach them before they reach the point of no return. In 2021 96% of the youth we housed transitioned from crisis to self-sufficiency. Youth with stories similar to Brittany.
We give our youth a sense of safety, hope and belonging:
Safety through our street outreach program that brings kids in from the cold.
Hope through our one-stop centers where together we create blueprints for success and provide referral services.
Belonging through relationships with trusted, caring adults who provide mentoring and life skills training, emotional and social support.
