Street Outreach CounselorStreet Outreach Counselors walk the streets in teams, to find and help homeless and street kids. Counselors provide food, clothing and hygiene products but most importantly must genuinely care about the kids and work patiently and consistently with those kids to help save their lives.
Counselors befriend the kids while helping them work toward a life off the streets through connecting them to resources such as housing, employment, food and education. Counselors also provide moral support as well as resources, food and hygiene products.
All counselors are required to complete the STANDUP FOR KIDS training program in order to work with homeless and street youth. We ask counselors to commit 2-3 hours per week for six months to the program. It is important for counselors to be a consistent part of the kids’ lives and efforts to get off the streets.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years-old

Director of Adult Training (& Assistant Director of Adult Training)
Determines the ongoing training needs of program volunteers. Common ongoing training sessions include dealing with emergencies, rape crisis intervention, gangs, foster care, Planned Parenthood and CPR and First Aide certification courses. It is the Director of Adult Training to coordinate frequent (often bi-monthly or monthly) training sessions with community agencies and programs.

Director of Community Resource Development (& Assistant Director of Community Resource Development)
The Director of Community Resource Development manages the local program’s relationship with active and potential community partners that provide services to runaway and homeless youth. This is also includes larger scale community education and advocacy. Many of the responsibilities of this position will require coordination with the Directors of Public Relations, Marketing and Adult Training.
- Organizes presentations and speaking engagements with civic groups, service agencies, schools and other philanthropic organizations and/or businesses;
- Builds a relationship with other social service providers to learn about the other services that are available to homeless and street youth;
- Builds a relationship with other social service providers to inform them of the services offered by STANDUP FOR KIDS;
- Collaborates with social service providers to assist runaway, homeless and street youth;
- Advocates for the needs of street youth locally, regionally and nationally.

The Director of Fund Development determines the financial needs of the organization. He/she will identify and execute strategies to secure funds from current and potential donors.

- Lead the development of a Fundraising Plan;
- Execute the Fundraising Plan;
- Grant writing;
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events;
- Maintain a fundraising database.

Director of Kid Development (& Assistant Director of Kid Development)
The Director of Kid Development assists homeless and at-risk youth with their educational development and job training. Also responsible for implementing training programs and/or tutoring programs to assist kids with reading, writing, mathematics and other necessary subjects.
- Help kids obtain a high school diploma or GED;
- Help kids trace and recover their previous school records;
- Help kids find the appropriate school for them (public, alternative, trade);
- Assist kids acquire a job and/or assist kids with Job Corps.

The Director of Marketing determines the marketing, communication and public relations needs for the local program. He/she will create and execute a marketing plan to inform and educate the local community about STANDUP FOR KIDS.
- Define marketing goals and strategies;
- Develop a marketing plan;
- Create presentations for various community groups;
- Write and submit articles and/or press releases;
- Create and maintain a marketing calendar;
- Coordinate marketing events (often in collaboration with the Director of Fund Development);
- Evaluate effectiveness of marketing strategies.

Director of Outreach (& Assistant Director of Outreach)
The Director of Outreach determines the outreach needs of the local program. He/she will support and manage qualified and trained outreach counselors that conduct outreach. Also responsible for maintaining a positive street image with kids, businesses and the local community.
- Identify the locations and needs of homeless and street kids;
- Coordinate (with the Director of Program Support) to ensure adequate supplies are available for the number of kids assisted and frequency of outreach;
- Ensure outreach supervisors and counselors are qualified and trained;
- Ensure counselors are mentally prepared for street outreach;
- Provide support to counselors and initiate peer support among counselors;
- Complete and submit outreach reports;
- Manage schedule for phone.

Director of Volunteers (& Assistant Director of Volunteers)
The Director of Volunteers recruits, trains and supports current and potential volunteers.
- Ensure that ALL volunteers submit a Background Investigation and receive approval prior to entering the program;
- In addition to a Background Investigation, interviews all potential volunteers and verifies completed character references and waiver of liability;
- Maintains all volunteer files and manages this responsibility with discretion and CONFIDENTIALITY;
- Assign volunteers positions that complement their skills and interests;
- Create and maintain a training plan and logistics;
- Ensure that appropriate training is completed and recorded;
- Evaluate volunteer performance;
- Create and implement a volunteer recognition program.

Co-Executive Director (or Executive Director)
The Co-Executive Directors (Co-EDs) supervise all affairs and activities of the local program in accordance with the mission of STANDUP FOR KIDS. The ED may be appointed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), National Director of Operations or elected by program volunteers and approved by the CEO or National Director of Operations.
- Reports directly to the CEO or National Director of Operations;
- Ensures that the local program operates in accordance with the bylaws, articles of incorporation, and mission of the STANDUP FOR KIDS;
- With the assistance of the program’s Leadership Team, submits the coming year’s local program annual budget and program goals to the National Office by October 31st of the current year;
- Submits Program and Financial Reports to the National Office by the 10th of the month;
- Identifies the times and places for Leadership Team meetings;
- Prepares the agenda and organizes all Leadership Team meetings;
- Assists with local fund development activities;
- Supervises all Leadership Team members to ensure proper performance of duties.
All EDs are strongly encouraged to share this role with another volunteer, becoming Co-Executive Directors, and to appoint another volunteer to serve as an Assistant Executive Director. Doing so balances the workload and familiarizes a second individual with the operations and unique needs of the program.

Help Build A Youth Outreach Program!
STANDUP FOR KIDS needs your help to start an outreach program in your city. Starting a program takes patience, dedication and a sincere desire to help homeless and street youth. The first step is the Resource Survey, which identifies the current resources available to homeless youth and the potential locations of homeless youth in your community. After completing the Resource Survey, the next step is to develop a Leadership Team to manage the program. Leadership Team development often coincides with the Resource Survey process. Following the completion of the Resource Survey and Leadership Team development, the program can begin training volunteers to walk the streets and assist homeless and street youth. Fund Development Staff
Help raise funds to help homeless and street youth. All funds raised will help your local program provide food, hygiene, clothing and other necessary items for homeless and street youth in your community.
Requirements: Previous fundraising experience is a plus but not a requirement. Kids and adults are welcome to assist with fundraising and we encourage school organizations, sports clubs, religious groups and civic groups to join us in helping homeless and street youth.
Grant Research/Writer
We are looking for volunteers to lead and assist in the grant application process including grant writing and research of grant opportunities.
Experience in grant writing for non-profit organizations would be preferable however, we welcome volunteers that are looking to gain experience as well.
Graphic Design
STANDUP FOR KIDS seeks volunteers to assist with design and editing of materials including flyers, brochures and advertisements. Responsibilities include maintaining current and designing new marketing and promotional materials, creating images for fundraising and advocacy campaigns, and other design needs as they arise.
Experience with any version of Creative Suites, especially CS4, is preferred but not required.
Hats Off For Kids
Hats Off For Kids is a national fund development campaign created to raise funds in support of the STANDUP FOR KIDS national office, active programs and continue build new programs. We need volunteers to contact celebrities (sports, TV, political, etc.), requesting hat donations (from celebrities). The collected hats will be auctioned off on eBay to benefit homeless and street youth.

Requirements: This
position requires five to eight hours per month. Must travel to the National Headquarters in Atlanta, GA
every quarter (individual expense). Required
to assist in raising awareness and funds for programs.
In being committed to at-risk youth, posses the needed skills and
abilities to contribute to the goals of the national organization. Members are asked to serve for one to three years with $1,000
annual dues.
Outreach Sponsor- Meal Preparation

Program Support Help collect clothes, hygiene products, food and other resources for you local program. These items will assist homeless and street youth in your community. We need everything from hygiene products (preferably travel size) such as shampoo, toothpaste and soap to food for kids living on the streets.
