STANDUP FOR KIDS Silent Art Auction
You can make a lot of noise at this silent auction designed to support homeless youth in our area. By making a
tax deductible donation of artwork you’ll have a chance to showcase your work to a large cross section of
the "who’s who" crowd in the DC area, network with other art professionals and of course, serve
such a worthy cause. If you’re interested, please RSVP for our information session being held on Friday,
July 24th, 6:30 p.m. at 888 16th St. NW Washington, DC

What
Is "Basic Training"?
All
new volunteers are required to attend 6 hours of “Basic
Training.” This training series focuses on the
following topics:
- Volunteer Bonding
- Who Are We? Who Are They?
- Discussion of 4 articles regarding child development
issues

Each session lasts approximately 2 hours, and you
must attend all sessions in order to be qualified
to volunteer for STANDUP FOR KIDS. Normally, in Washington
D.C. our training sessions are offered either on two
consecutive Saturdays (4 hours on day, and 2 hours
the next), or on three consecutive weekday evenings.
Please check our calendar
for the start dates of our next Basic Training.
Our training is designed to be interesting, interactive,
and informative. You will gain a deeper understanding
of the history and mission of STANDUP FOR KIDS (both
on a national and local level),
and a more complete
awareness of the problem of homeless youth and the
realities of street life. Volunteers participate in
a variety of exercises that foster bonds between our
volunteers, and also help them gain practical insight
into what
it might be like to do street outreach.
