How to get to the
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library

By Foot: The Library sits on the Northwest corner of 9th and G Streets, NW,
across the street diagonally from the National Museum of American Art. The MCI Arena is two blocks to the east; the Washington Convention Center is one block north.

By Metro: All Metro lines lead to the Library. Stations at Gallery Place-Chinatown (serving the Red, Green & Yellow lines) and Metro Center (serving the Red, Blue, & Orange lines) are each a block away from the Library. Leave Gallery Place by the “Museum” exit ( 9th Street ) or Metro Center by the “Woodies” exit ( 11th Street ) for the shortest walk.

George Washington University
Medical Center

By Metro:

We recommend riding Metro if possible. The Foggy Bottom Metro station on the Orange and Blue lines is conveniently located next to the main entrance of the hospital.

By Car
From Maryland

Route 95 to route 495 (toward Silver Spring) to route 355 south (which becomes Wisconsin Avenue). Then follow directions as given from Route 270 below.

Route 270 following arrows toward Maryland, feeds into Route 355 (which becomes Wisconsin Ave.). Proceed on Wisconsin and turn left onto Massachusetts Ave. Continue on Massachusetts until 21st St., NW. At K street turn right into the service lane. This will take you up into Washington Circle. Go 2/3 of the way around the traffic circle and take a right onto 23rd street. The hospital will be on your right.

Route 50 runs directly on to New York Avenue coming into Washington, D.C. Stay in the far right lane and after you cross 4th St., bear right and follow the series of signs saying Downtown Washington and New York/Mass Avenue. This will put you on L St. Make a left on 9th St. Get in the far right lane and make a right on K St. Get in the far right lane just after you cross 20th St. and bear right into the service lane. This will take you up into Washington Circle as opposed to going under a tunnel. Go 2/3 of the way around the traffic circle and take a right onto 23rd Street. The hospital will be on your right.

From Virginia:
Route 50 and cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge, bear left at the Lincoln Memorial, turn left on 23rd Street. Continue several blocks to the hospital on your left (just past I street).

Route 395 to Exit 10c. Follow signs to and cross the Arlington Memorial Bridge, bear left at the Lincoln Memorial. Turn left on 23rd St., NW. and continue several blocks to the hospital on your left.

Key Bridge and turn right on M Street. Continue straight on M Street and turn right on Pennsylvania Avenue. Bear right at traffic circle and take a right onto 23rd Street. The hospital will be on your right.

Visitor Parking is available for a fee ($12 for 2 hours) in the GW University garage. The entrance is on 22nd Street between H and I Streets, N.W. Street parking is limited and metered.
