STANDUP
FOR KIDS
– Washington , DC
Fall, 2005
Welcome to the Washington, DC chapter of STANDUP
FOR KIDS!
Our current chapter was organized in April of this
year and has moved rapidly to recruit and train new
volunteers, establish weekly street outreach in the
District and begin collaboration with community partners
working locally on issues of youth and homelessness.
At present we are a community of approximately thirty
volunteers divided into a coordinated set of working
groups in the areas of outreach, volunteer management,
program support, community resource development and
fund development.
Significant achievements this year include:
- Establishment of weekly outreach in the District
of Columbia.
- Hosting the Annual East Coast Conference of STANDUP
FOR KIDS in September of 2005.
- Convening the First Annual Community Summit on
Youth and Homelessness at the Kaiser Family Foundation
in October of 2005.
In the upcoming year we have plans to:
- Continue and expand our street outreach efforts.
- Implement the STANDUP FOR KIDS’ school-based
prevention curriculum in District-area schools.
We thank you for your interest in our work, and hope
you will take advantage of upcoming opportunities
to get involved with the chapter.
