There are a number of things that you can do and many ways that you can get involved with STANDUP FOR KIDS-DALLAS. Would you like to be a street counselor? Can you keep books? Can you write grants? Are you a natural leader? Do you have other skills you'd like to put to use helping the children of our community?

Street Counselor
We have an extensive and dynamic training program that gets you ready to work with the homeless and street kids. About 20 hours of jam packed "action filled" street stories, do’s and don’ts, and role playing. And, this is all free!  Our National Training Manual is now being used in a number of other programs and states to teach volunteers how to work with and help homeless and street kids.
Being a street counselor is a big commitment. You're committing to 3 hours a week; you're committing to six months or more; you're committing to making a difference in the life of numerous children. It's not an easy path, but it is a rewarding one. Contact dallas@standupforkids.org for more information.

Other Ways To Get Involved
We know that not everyone wants to be an Outreach Counselor OR work hands on with kids. We have many positions that need to be filled that require many different levels of leadership or expertise. There’s a great and challenging place for you! One that is rewarding and meaningful! Below are some of the positions that we are currently looking to fill. If you would like to fill one of them or alternatively feel you have another skill that we could utilize please contact us at dallas@standupforkids.org.

Bookkeeper:
Looking for a motivated individual with a financial background to keep track of donations, expenditures, and manage reimbursements.

Assistant Director of In-Kind Donations:
There's always a lot that needs to be done managing and sorting In-Kind donations, coordinating and participating in pick-ups, and planning In-Kind donation drives. Are you interested?

Assistant Director of Volunteers:
Are you a people person? We need motivated individuals who want to be the first line of communication with new volunteers, help gauge there interests, and help get them into the role that's right for them.

We know that your time is valuable. So, please know that your time and that your assistance is greatly needed and very much appreciated.

There are a number of things that you can do and many ways that you can get involved with STANDUP FOR KIDS. First of all, we have an extensive and dynamic training program that gets you ready to work with the homeless and street kids. About 20 hours of jam packed "action filled" street stories, do’s and don’ts, and role playing. We know that not everyone wants to be an Outreach Counselor OR work hands on with kids. So, like other organizations, we too have many positions that need to be filled that require many different levels of leadership or expertise. There’s a great and challenging place for you! One that is rewarding and meaningful!

Nationally we’re more than 99.5% volunteers. We have hired two of our street kids to help us train and work with volunteers.

We heard about your great skills and want you to know that we have a number of Board and Leadership positions that need to be filled. If you’re that fast track executive and want experience working with a nonprofit, or sitting on a board of directors, give us a call! Or, if you have the expertise to help us lead this program in the new millennium please email us!

Whatever position you feel you can fill, complete the volunteer application and submit it to us. Or, if you just want to know more about us drop us a quick e-mail.

If you want to work "hands on with kids" we ask for three to four hours per week. Most other positions require between one to two hours per week.

We know that your time is valuable. So, please know that your time and assistance is greatly needed and very much appreciated.

We generally conduct an orientation once a month. Plan to attend the next one and see what we're all about. Within a few weeks you can be making the difference in the life of a homeless kid!
