May 4, 2008. On Sunday, May 4th, the Worcester group celebrated the Turn Purple campaign. All decked out in purple shirts and face paint, the volunteers held posters and handed out fliers at two areas in the city: Park Avenue/Highland Street and Foster Street (outside the DCU Center). We would like to thank the Worcester community for their support and donations. Stay tuned for more SUFK events.
April 14, 2008. StandUp for Kids began Outreach in the Worcester Commons on April 14th. The group will provide on-the-street outreach every Tuesday evening. What is Outreach? Volunteers go to the streets in groups of four to six people "to find, stabilize and assist homeless and street kids" (http://www.standupforkids.org/FAQs.html).
Spring Cleaning? We Need Clothes!
As you begin Spring cleaning and/or packing up your school stuff and head home: PLEASE GIVE US YOUR OLD CLOTHES!!!
We will collect clothes to distribute to homeless, street, and at risk youth who at times need some new/clean clothes. We only ask that the clothes be in decent condition and clean. Please send an email to Worcester@standupforkids.org if you would like to make a donation.
Shaw’s Fundraiser: Every Receipt Counts!
Do you shop at Shaw’s Market? You can help us raise money by contributing your Shaw’s Receipts to the organization. Every receipt counts, whether you have one receipt or a whole year’s worth. Receipts can be dated as far back as January 30th, 2007. StandUp for Kids will be given 1% of all of the sales on these receipts. The StandUp for Kids program needs assistance in the following areas:
- Volunteers (e.g., Leadership, Outreach)
- Donations (wish list items or monetary)
- Sponsorship
- Spread the Word. Your voice can make a difference.

STANDUP FOR KIDS is working on starting a program in this city. We are actively recruiting volunteers to complete a survey of all resources that are already available to homeless and street kids.
We’ll be using the survey for several purposes:
1. To identify the real issues surrounding the homeless and street kids issues, so we know what needs to be accomplished as we start our STANDUP FOR KIDS program.
2. To articulate these issues to supporters, sponsors, and prospective volunteers.
3. And, probably most important, we’ll use the completed survey as the resource list of services that are available to homeless and street kids and at-risk youth
