Clark CARES Sponsors Largest Charity Golf Tournament to Date
San Diego Event Raises Nearly $360,000 for Local Charitable Organizations

SAN DIEGO — On Thursday, Clark Builders Group, Clark Realty Capital, and Clark Construction hosted the fourth annual Clark CARES San Diego golf tournament at the Maderas Golf Club. The two-day event attracted 270 golfers and 75 corporate sponsors, raising almost $360,000 for Clark CARES, a public charity that provides grants to deserving non-profit organizations. Proceeds, which set a single-event fundraising record for Clark CARES, benefited local chapters of StandUp for Kids and the ACE Mentor Program, as well as national organizations such as the American Heart Association and Talk About Curing Autism (TACA).

"With the assistance provided by Clark CARES, we will be able to provide a safe and protective environment for homeless and at-risk youth," said Terilyn Burg, executive director of StandUp for Kids San Diego. "This generous donation helps us foster the support network of basic human needs and development through educational programs, one-on-one counseling, and an ongoing atmosphere of hope and concern."

Clark CARES also presented tournament proceeds to Birdies for the Brave and the Good Guys of Morgan Run, whose programs honor and support members of the military who were lost or seriously wounded in the line of duty. In addition, contributions extended to area education programs including the Pacific Beacon Education Fund, the UC San Diego Foundation, and the Construction Engineering Program at San Diego State University.

The event sponsors held a dinner and awards reception both evenings of the tournament at the Maderas Golf Club’s Del Lago Ballroom. Highlights of the reception included the announcement of tournament winners and formal presentation of the proceeds to recipient organizations.

Our team kept a Team Journal, with every member on the team writing one entry.  My entry was made at the end of the trip as we traveled back to Indiana, and I used it as a way for me to summarize my experiences in San Diego.
