Each day in the U.S., 13 homeless children die on the streets. Many of these children are runaways who have been neglected and abused. Do you want to help them get off the street and into a safe place where they can improve their lives?
Now you canby supporting STANDUP FOR KIDS’ 48 Hours on the Street program.
48 Hours on the Street is our way of reaching out and helping all youth who are living on the streets. There are more than 1.7 million homeless kids in the U.S., at least 650,000 of whom are under the age of 15.
How it works. For 48 consecutive hours, the Oceanside Chapter is open to our kids, giving them an opportunity to get off the streets and be safe for 48 hours.
By connecting with them, our center volunteers will offer support and make an impact in their lives. We will provide basic necessities like food, clothing and hygiene products.
How you can help. As our center volunteers spend the entire 48 hours with our kids, we need others to donate meals for the kids to eat while at they're at the center during the 48 hours. One of the most important and rewarding aspects of "48 Hours" for these street kids are the social activities that take place. Across the country, our kids may have the opportunity to get off the streets for several hours while attending a professional sporting event, BBQ's, movies, etc. Most of these kids have never had the opportunity to visit Disneyland. This year, the Oceanside Chapter is looking for community involvement to sponsor one kid who is trying to survive on the streets in our own communities, to get them off the streets for several hours and place them in a loving, caring environment, that is why we selected Disneyland, after all, it is the happiest place on earth!!
