| Any day a child is living on the streets is one day too many. There are many reasons why kids are homeless but none of those reasons are because they WANT to be without safe shelter, consistent meals or a loving family. For most of these kids, being in the system simply is not an option for them and either they are not welcome at their home or it is actually more abusive and painful than the dangers of being on the streets. This is the everyday reality for homeless kids, and Arizona summers only compound the harshness of this reality for them. As temperatures rise, life on the streets becomes increasingly dangerous for our kids, and often deadly. You may remember that last summer many homeless died from the heat of our summers.
Stand Up For Kids volunteers hit the streets every week to find homeless kids and bring them basic resources such as food, water, clothing, as well as job applications and other resources to begin building their own lives and get off the streets. There are an estimated 1.3 million homeless kids in America that means there are thousands living in our Valley streets right now. We need to continue to increase our efforts this summer to save our kids, and we need your help to do it.
