Rob & Ash

StandUp For Kids met Rob & Ash just before Christmas 2007. They had been living in their car that had no heat and was falling apart. They were desperate and willing to do anything to turn their lives around. Around the same time CBT Solutions had a toyota corolla that they wanted to donate to make a real difference in the life of a kid. We hung on to the car for a couple of month's and explained to the kids that one of them would receive the car, the kid that would get it had to really want it.

Rob & Ash quickly got to work...literally! Before we knew it they had jobs, an apartment and could afford the insurance & maintenance to the vehicle. They used all the resources we gave them and more to make a positive change for their future.

We want to congratulate our "Model" kids Rob & Ash for showing others it can be done! Thank you for inspiring us to do more. We love you!

And a BIG Thank you to our friends at CBT Solutions On Demand for your generous donations, you are helping lead the way for the forgotten youth in Cincinnati!

Indian Hill Middle school student, Sara Lobo wanted to help StandUp For Kids. She asked her teacher, Jennifer Stidham if they could collect items from our wish list. Jen agreed and helped get the entire school involved. They bought 30 plastic bins to help organize our donations that we keep in a storage unit until they are given to kids. They collected a mound of things valued at $7285.00 for our program and for "our kids". We are amazed that one child could do so much to help homeless kids in Cincinnati. Thanks so much Sara & Jen!

2007 Recap - Cincinnati was officially named a program October 5, 2007. We started our survey in Nov. 2006 and trained our first outreach counselors in April 2007. We have come a long way in a short time and we couldn't have done it without the love and support of family, friends and our community.

Get Involved

Cincinnati does not have a large street kid crowd. So you may not see homeless kids if you are not looking for them. There are 3500 of "our kids" that are homeless, which means they find somewhere to stay but do not have a permanent place to call home. At times they have to find somewhere to stay every night, it can be stressful and very lonely.

We work with the kids to help them find jobs, apartments, and finish school. But more importantly we are just there for them!

We help all types of kids, but most have been abused or neglected. We have few rules that the kids have to follow while participating in our program. They have to be honest and not do drugs. Our kids are good kids that need a break. They need someone to care and show them how to make it on their own.

Mentors- Work with the same kid every week to build a caring friendship, lend support, and to help him/her set goals.

Street Outreach Counselors- Walk the streets and survey neighborhoods to make connections with kids, residents, and businesses.

Apartment Support Counselors- Visit kids living in apartments bi-weekly with food and other support.

Leadership- Continues to develop our program with fund development, program support, and community awareness.

General Volunteer- Provides support to our team, helps with simple tasks, and event planning.
