Upcoming Events
As temperatures begin to rise in late March, The Gathering will feel the heat of "Higher By Nature", an eclectic fusion-rock band. HBN, based in Annapolis, Md., will perform a benefit concert at the church between 6 and 9 p.m. on March 28, as part of the Gathering's monthly involvement in Final Friday festivities in Over-the-Rhine.
Proceeds will come from audience donations, and a portion of the take will go to Stand Up For Kids, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to helping the estimated 3,500 homeless from ages 9-21 who are on the streets of Cincinnati every night. "I really believe our members and visitors will like HBN's music," said Tom Gilmartin of The Gathering. "It's new and it's young, but it's mellow."
HBN has recently released a new CD, "Sonic Rainbow," and the disc includes a song most appropriate for The Gathering benefit. It's title is "Homeless." "These are talented young men who want to share their music and help a really good cause," Tom Gilmartin
Holding on to Hope!
Hope is a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life. We have given "our kids" hope when they had none. We have encouraged them and reassured them that if they chose, they will have the life they want and that life is better than they've ever known.
Our Kids have taken an active role in our organization, they want to help, they want to love, they want to feel again. We have surrounded them with love and will continue to work with them to improve their lives.
You can help by donating $30 for a canvas painted by "our kids". The individually unique canvas is 18 X 24. The design and colors may vary, however the title will remain the same. If you would like to order a canvas please email Cincinnati@standupforkids.org.

A student at Indian Hill Middle school, Sara Lobo wanted to help StandUp For Kids. She asked her teacher,
Jennifer Stidham if they could collect items from our wish list. Jen agreed and helped get the entire school
involved. They bought 30 plastic bins to help organize our donations that we keep in a storage unit until they are
given to kids. They collected a mound of things valued at $7285.00 for our program and for "our kids". We are
amazed that one child could do so much to help homeless kids in Cincinnati.

2007 Recap - Cincinnati was officially named a program October 5, 2007. We started our survey in Nov. 2006 and trained our first
outreach counselors in April 2007. We have come a long way in a short time and we couldn't have done it without the love and support of family, friends and
our community.

Outreach
Cincinnati does not have a large street kid crowd. So you may not see homeless kids if you are not looking for them. There are 3500 of "our kids" that are homeless,
which means they find somewhere to stay but do not have a permanent place to call home. At times they have to find somewhere to stay every night, it can be stressful
and very lonely.
We work with the kids to help them find jobs, apartments, and finish school. But more importantly we are just there for them!
We help all types of kids, but most have been abused or neglected. We have few rules that the kids have to follow while participating in our program.
They have to be honest and not do drugs. Our kids are good kids that need a break. They need someone to care and show them how to make it on their own.
Outreach Counselors- Work with the same kid every week to build a caring friendship, lend support, and to help the him/her set goals.
Street Outreach Counselors- Walk the streets and survey neighborhoods to make connections with kids, residents, and businesses.
Apartment Support Counselors- Visit kids living in apartments bi-weekly with food baskets.
