StandUp For Kids -

Local News

StandUp For Kids - Jacksonville was established in 2004. The number of kids we serve varies from week to week as Jacksonville seems to be a transition city for homelessness young people. They don't stay long, but we try to lead them the right direction and do have amazing stories of saving lives.

Services Provided

Street Outreach - Street Outreach counselors go to the streets and try to reach homeless kids. The single greatest need for homeless and street kids is continuous caring and real support. Befriending homeless kids and letting them know that caring adults are concerned about their well-being is the first step toward helping these kids get off the streets and live a better life.

The Jacksonville chapter has extensively trained outreach directors. These directors then train volunteers who commit to at least 2-3 hours of street outreach a week. During Street Outreach we work to meet immediate needs for our kids such as food, clothing and hygiene items to the homeless youth we locate. Most importantly we earn their trust and listen to them so that they can reach their greatest potential and succeed in life.
Apartment Support - Several StandUp For Kids Chapters have Apartment Support programs. These programs work with youth via apartment support teams that help kids find apartments, monitor their progress as they adapt to apartment life, and support them as they build a life centered around their new communities.
At StandUp For Kids Jacksonville we pride ourselves on providing skills training for every day living, such as grocery shopping, laundry care, cooking, homemaking and other various tasks.
