What others are saying about StandUP

I was once a homeless youth running the streets of Downtown San Diego. I absolutely love StandUp. They actually helped myself and a lot of my friends get off of the streets. I think one of the things that helped the most is that they talked to us like normal everyday people instead of like garbage. They didn't push religion on us and actually were very interested in our stories. How we ended up where we were and what can we do to fix it. I love StandUp and wish I could give back more than I have. Thank you StandUp. Thanks you for giving me and so many others a chance at life.

This organization is absolutely amazing. I'm fifteen, and I WISH I could volunteer here and be in front of homeless kids helping each and every one of them. I've been through homelessness with my Mother, and Grandmother and it isn't pretty, I know what they go through. I'm stable now, and Really want to find a Organization that will let me work with them.

I'm only 13 and have been suicidal for about half a year because of my situation. This website just made me think of all the children who have worse lives than me. If I had any money I would send it all the this organization.. I hope someday I'm able to help these kids in some way.

I have worked in social services in Central and South Florida for over 20 years and I continue to be amazed by the growing number of 'throw away teens'. I will be giving information located on this website to those teens who reside in the areas where Stand Up for Kids services are available.

I live in Northwest Indiana. How do I find out who is homeless? Seldom, if ever, are people on our streets claiming to be homeless.

Hi, I had been involved with stand up as a teen. I was given a taste of freedom at that age from lack of supervision. I thought it was cool back then to live without responsibility. Boy did that turn out to be a bad choice. Luckily stand up was there. They gave me food, clothes if I needed it, a shower, a place to come in and take a break from spending time in the streets. On top of it all there were people who cared around. I don't know how I would be the success that I am today without stand up and I mean that. They helped make it easier to deal and move away from the bad choices I made and what is so special, is that these people volunteer their time and they don't have too. But for the kids sake people have to. It saves lives. Thank you stand up. Thank you for saving me. For anyone who is wondering if there help would matter, I promise you, you will help so many forever.

I'm a highschooler in NC and discovered your website doing a school project. It's absolutely fantastic reaching out to people especially the youth. Our economy is slowly in a down spiral and i would love to help in any way possible.
