Bremerton/Silverdale StandUp For Kids is excited to announce that it has received a Restaurant Community Grant of $1,000 from the Darden Foundation! We are proud that our local Darden restaurant, Olive Garden, identified us as a leader in our community and is supporting our work to feed homeless/at-risk youth. Each restaurant in the Darden family - Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Longhorn Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Bahama Breeze and Seasons 52 helped award a $1,000 grant to a nonprofit in its community.
FYI - Olive Garden is hosting 8 of us for lunch on 31 May, and I hear they are presenting one of those BIG checks. Since we already have the cash I'm thinking they will be taking photos and giving it some local publicity. Yeah!
The outgoing President of Silverdale Rotary chose StandUp For Kids to benefit from her last project. She organized the club to donate sufficient snacks/groceries to pack 320 ziploc bags, each good for 3 meals. These will be used for the homeless students for their weekends. Currently we are providing 6 weekend meals to 21 kids who are striving to complete their education even though they are homeless. The President's efforts were so successful that in addition to raising roughly $1600 for the food, she was also able to give us a check for $600.
Our Girl Scout, Ruth, continues to provide donations of food, clothing and hygiene items that she has solicited, collected and delivered to us, as part of her work on her Silver Award. In doing this task she has spread the need of homeless youth through her school, church and scouting contacts.
The local dentists have been particularly generous in March/April providing us with toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss, that we have been able to pass on to the hundreds of kids in the schools/programs that we assist regularly.
JD made and donated 18 beautiful fleece blankets for our teen moms. She also assembled 48 very complete hygiene kits - 24 each for guys and girls. Her daughter passed on word of the needs of the homeless teens to an ASL group of students in N. Kitsap, and we have been told that they have collected a large variety of needed items for us, to be delivered soon.
SUFK volunteers provided roughly 120 hours of help to the local Rotary annual RAGS sale. They also spent considerable time soliciting local businesses, groups, etc. for donations for 48 Hrs.

SUFK assisted SHIELD to organize a plant sale. Friends and local businesses donated plants which students potted and priced. Funds raised helped them have a few summer outings to the big city, Seattle, and will be used in the new school year to provide assistance as needed to the students.
Jacob, now aged 10, earned $60 with his lemonade stand for us this summer. This is the second year he has done this. He is also anxious to help us in other ways.
Family Support Site recently held a drive to support SUFK. Approximately $500 of food, hygiene items, school supplies and misc. were donated.
Generous donations from many members provided hygiene items, school supplies and many other items, as well as cash.
Used clothing drive supplied us with dozens of usable items for the kids.
Once again Circle of Friends generously donated dozens of usable items of clothing, hygiene items, snack items and cash.
Chose to celebrate their daughter's 3rd birthday by asking for donations to be given to SUFK.
