Ten Years Since First Volunteering, Sean Reflects On Quite A Path

By Sean Dollard As an undergrad, I had the opportunity to volunteer with StandUp For Kids - Miami. I sought out the opportunity, in part, to remember that my day-to-day mental health challenges presented far fewer significant barriers than the folks we were serving. Many volunteers were peers and friends from the University of Miami and other local colleges. We would regularly gather at coffee shops or the library to reflect on our experience after street outreach or a mentoring session with youth experiencing homelessness. A year of highlights from Eddy Ameen, PhD, National Board Chair   Your support and involvement in our mission has helped make 2017 a standout year for StandUp For Kids. Our central responsibility is to our nation’s young people faced with homelessness, whether temporary or longer term. No matter the circumstances that got them there. No matter the work that needs to be done to help them transition them into safe, stable chapters of their lives.
