Award presentation by Mike Zelnio, Chairman of the Board:

We’ve moved on to our final award tonight, the Lifetime Achievement Award. It is presented on a periodic basis to anyone who, by their own efforts, has enhanced the reputation and prestige of StandUp For Kids through a long-term contribution of exceptional leadership and service to StandUp For Kids and the greater community.

The winner of this award has been a face of StandUp For Kids since its earliest days, demonstrating commitment, loyalty and selfless devotion for our youth, volunteers and the entire organization through their role as a leader locally and nationally. This winner has toured the country and even the world as an ambassador of StandUp For Kids and an advocate of homeless youth. Years of tireless service and a commitment to community well-being has led this person and their chapter to earn numerous Civic and National Awards. The winner has been called by their nominators “a cheerleader” and one who shares love for the organization willingly with others.

This lifetime achievement winner has persevered through numerous obstacles and has been with the organization steadfastly through thick and thin, always maintaining a positive and supportive outlook. Without a doubt, this awardee proves daily that they have a heart for the kids, volunteers, and the future of our mission to end the cycle of youth homelessness. In fact, it my special privilege to announce that the Board was so confident in the way that the winner of this award embodied the very definition of Lifetime Achievement that we decided to name the award after them and give them its inaugural first prize.

Please join me in congratulating Teri Burg, of San Diego, as the 2016 Terilyn Burg Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
