Calling All Leaders - March & April 2009

StandUp For Kids - Baltimore is building a new leadership team! We are looking for committed individuals who possess the qualities and skills to help lead & develop this all-volunteer program working to assist homeless and street youth in Baltimore. Ride For Life 2008

The sun was just starting to rise and while most of you were still snuggled under the covers, our own Chuck Ritz and friends were busily preparing for the day, just as Chuck had been doing for months. It was 7:00 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, October 12, 2008: the Third Annual Ride for Life to benefit the Baltimore Child Abuse Center and StandUp For Kids - Baltimore. Thanks to Chuck, all the volunteers, vendors, donors, family, friends and supporters, the fundraiser was a huge success!

The weather was beautiful as we registered approximately 150 riders. T-shirts, pins, bracelets and magnets were sold to raise awareness of both nonprofits and the annual Ride for Life event. The riders returned about an hour later to the wonderful smells of grilled food and the fantastic sounds of jamming bands. Several outside vendors were onsite selling their wares. A silent auction was held to help benefit the organizations.

By 6:00 p.m. dusk was settling and we were starting to clean up. Chuck did an awesome job: $2,714 was raised for StandUp For Kids - Baltimore! Chuck, words can hardly express our gratitude. We appreciate all you do - thank you from the bottom of our hearts and from the bottom of the hearts of our kids!

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

One way StandUp For Kids gives support to homeless youth is by connecting them to resources that can help them in various ways. These include youth programs, food sources, scholarship and education opportunities, transportation, sports and recreation, arts, and health care. If you know of any organizations or resources that we can add to the list to help support our homeless youth, contact us to let us know.
