Funds to Benefit San Diego and Oceanside Chapters of Non-Profit
StandUp for Kids to Help Homeless and At-Risk Youth
(SAN DIEGO) - The DPR Foundation, the charitable arm of DPR Construction (DPR), recently gave a $40,000 gift to StandUp For Kids, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to homeless and at-risk youth throughout San Diego County.
"We are proud to support StandUp For Kids and their great work in our community," said Jay Leopold, regional manager of DPR San Diego. "What is unique about this partnership is that every DPR team member in our office had a voice in the charity selection process. Our hope is to build a lasting relationship with StandUp For Kids and the children it serves with this donation and volunteer opportunities."
StandUp For Kids operates two outreach centers in San Diego County located in downtown San Diego and Oceanside. These centers provide homeless children a safe environment and a wide range of services such as food, clothing, hygiene products, educational assistance, counseling and job referrals. Additionally, the non-profit offers assistance to youth through street outreaches and educational programs in elementary and middle school classrooms. Through presentations, StandUp for Kids helps to educate at-risk children about the resources, options and alternatives to running away from home.
"We’d like to thank DPR for this generous gift that will help us reach out and offer encouragement to kids in need throughout San Diego County," said Terilyn Burg, Executive Director of StandUp For Kids - San Diego.

Mission Beach Woman's Club (MBWC) were excited to raise money for StandUp For Kids - San Diego with a Sock Hop Benefit and Kickoff to the MBWC year. Eighty-six guests and members attended and the benefit raised $800 and donated a large box of clean socks for San Diego homeless kids. The group held a hula-hoop contest, danced to oldies and wore costumes. They even had a Soda Shoppe when guests needed a break from doing the hand-jive!
Jeannie Mershon,
